Joanna Collingwood

Joanna is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick, and holds an adjunct post in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at the University of Florida. Joanna studied Physics (MPhys, York, 1999; PhD, Warwick, 2003), and was subsequently supported by fellowships from the Alzheimer’s Society, EPSRC, and RCUK to study iron biomineralization processes in the brain, working at the Institute of Science and Technology in Medicine, Keele University, and at MSE and the McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida. At Warwick, Joanna established the Trace Metals in Medicine Laboratory in 2011, and the Warwick Medical Imaging Network in 2013. She presently serves on the UK Alzheimer's Society Biomedical Grant Advisory Board, and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Advisory Panel for Public Engagement with Science.
